    D-Max Artifacts

    Introduction

These defects appear as anomalous clear areas in the maximum density image areas on the film.

There are four main causes considered here:

Actual removal of the emulsion before or after exposure

Dust or fibers interfering during plotting

    Emulsion desensitization

    Restricted processing

    D-Max Artifacts Index
    Pinholes - emulsion pickoff
Abrasion Lines - gouges and scratches
